CommUNITY Dinner and Activity Night

Families gather to enjoy camaraderie and dinner. Adults can connect about the neighborhood, while children take part in planned activities.

  • Date & Time: Second Friday of the month; doors open at 5:30 pm; dinner is served at 6:01 pm; family friendly movie begins at 7:00 pm.

Senior Coffee Hour

Neighbors gather weekly for coffee, conversation and light food refreshments in Cora’s Cafe at the Badger Rock Neighborhood Center.

Hmong Language and Culture Enrichment Program

Focused on increasing Hmong language proficiency and appreciation for the Hmong culture, participants are immersed in the Hmong experience. Designed to keep the Hmong language, journey and culture relevant in today’s world, the six-week intensive program provides children a historical and contemporary look at what it means to be Hmong. Applications are taken until the program is filled.

  • Who can participate: Children in grades K-8
  • Date & Time: Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.; Summer, plus one Saturday per month starting in September 2016
  • Cost: $450 per child ($75 per child per week); tuition reduction is possible in exchange for volunteer hours.

Soccer Camp

Offered by Madison School & Community Recreation (MSCR)

For recreational and beginning players. Camps are co-ed and children are grouped by grade. Children must wear shin guards and bring full water bottles. Emphasize skill development, fitness and fun for beginners. Camps available half-day or full-day. Not all youth are physically/emotionally ready for a full day program, so choose carefully. Staff is local skilled soccer enthusiasts who enjoy working with children. Soccer balls provided for use during the camp. Full day camp includes soccer in the morning and other outdoor activities in the afternoon. If participating in the afternoon, bring sack lunch, drink, swimsuit and towel. Activities may include fishing, canoeing, swimming, hiking, art activities, table games and other outdoor activities. Children should be prepared to swim on hot days. Busing provided for a weekly field trip. No camp on July 4. Weather: On rainy days, pre-school camps may be cancelled and elementary and middle school camps meet indoors for activities. 

 

Play ‘N’ Learn Baby Camp

Offered by the Madison Metropolitan School District

Play ‘N’ Learn provides a learning environment for families who may not have access to similar opportunities and who are not currently participating in similar programs. Children learn early math, literacy, and social skills through play and caregivers learn about child development, the importance of play, and parenting skills.

  • Who can participate: Children 0-5 and their caregivers, who reside in the Madison School District
  • Date & Time: Fridays from 9:00 – 11:30 a.m.
